I was born to a conservative Catholic family in Guanajuato, Mexico. At a young age, my family moved to Boise, Idaho—another place known for its conservativism. When I grew up, I moved back to my hometown to pursue wedding photography as a career. I also grew up to realize certain things about myself that contradicted values with which I was raised.

Through photography, I realized that my interests lie in individualism and expression. I am enraptured by the intensity of the emotional spectrum and how feelings color the way we see the world. The human body is a fantastical mystery to me, and capturing people in their most vulnerable states of being is how I feel most in touch with my own humanity—something I was raised to shy away from as a child.
